GO Travel Show 2018 Review

A winning formula!

The third annual GO Travel Show delivered loads of inspiration for future days out for some 550 group travel organisers, tour operators and travel trade professionals at a sunny Kempton Park Racecourse on Tuesday 17th April.

Visitors to the event were delighted with the innovative layout of the exhibition and networked with over 120 of the UK’s top travel providers and tourist attractions.

Darryl Murdoch, Show Director and Commercial Manager:

Darryl Murdoch‘I’m really delighted with the success of the 2018 GO Travel Show. This year’s event had the biggest and best line up of exhibitors with 70 stands, and over 120 top class exhibitors on hand to talk to the 550 top quality organisers who attended. Building on the success of the previous two events, the Landor Travel Publications team delivered a first class experience with visitors, and the feedback we’ve received at the end of the show was brilliant!

The goal was to make the event an ‘experience rather than an exhibition’ and with historical characters such as Henry VIII and Queen Victoria, plus the ‘flash mob’ performances from the wonderful showtime dance team at Away Resorts by Mill Rythe as well as many other creative contributors – we really did deliver. I would like to thank all sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and visitors for making the event a truly fantastic experience for all involved.’

Fam Trip Feedback

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens taster experience

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is only half an hour from Kempton Park and we arranged an exclusive Fam trip for a select number of GTOs after the GO Travel Show.

The trip included entry to the Gardens, a driver-guided tour on the Kew Explorer (a hop-on, hop-off land train) and cream tea served in one of the fabulous restaurants/cafes. There was also some free time for GTOs to explore the Gardens on their own.

“Just a quick note to say thanks for your help with yesterday’s show and fam trip organisation. It all went very smoothly and everyone that attended seemed to have an enjoyable day (show and visit to Kew).”

Mingling with celebrities...

Amongst characters you could meet was King Henry VIII from Black Knight Historical, who enjoyed a slice of cake with Sussex Prairie Garden and took a VR trip into the future.

St George was on hand a few days early for his English Celebration day, seen here chatting with an eminent Victorian. Meanwhile, Queen Victoria was helping out on the Royal Albert Hall stand.

Fam Trip Feedback

Hampton Court

Historical Hampton Court

Hampton Court Palace is even closer to Kempton, just 10 minutes down the road, and the former home of King Henry VIII is a group travel staple.

GTOs enjoyed a 30-minute guided tour with a State Apartment Warder plus free time to enjoy the Palace and Gardens at their own leisure.

“The show went fabulously well. Delighted to have welcomed a number of participants to the post show fam trip to Hampton Court Palace.”

Ann Wilson, Historic Royal Palaces

An experience, rather than an exhibition

Visitors were surprised by Flash Mob performances by the fabulous cast from Away Resorts at Mill Rythe.

Crowds queued to come in to the show. This restored vintage London Bus was at the event to support RedRoutemaster company’s promotion of its vehicle hire and tour services.

Behind the Scenes at historic Kempton Park!

Courtesy of Jockey Club Groups and racing specialists Groups On Track, GTOs experienced behind the scenes at the host venue with a special peek at one of Britain’s Premier racecourses, which celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2018.

GTOs enjoyed exclusive access to the Royal Box, The Raceday Restaurant, Weighing room, Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure and the Jockey’s Changing Room. As well as learning the inside story about Kempton Park and what happens on a typical race day.

Thumbs up from our Exhibitors!

“This year is the best year we have ever had in terms of footfall to our stand. Please can you confirm a stand for us for 2019.”

Emma McMillan, David Urquhart Travel

“I liked the layout – very informal and welcoming. Someone went to a lot of trouble setting this up and it was well worth the effort. I liked the quality of the visitors – they also seemed to stay longer than in past years. The entertainment during the event in the main hall was just right.”

Antony Brunt, Yarn Market Hotel/Exmoor

“Just wanted to say thank you for an excellent organisation. Well done to you and your team. The venue was perfect and I liked the layout, ease of access for logistics. The one day, midweek also made it great for us.”
