Special activities to enjoy
The GO Travel Show team led by Darryl Murdoch have created a full entertainment programme to enjoy between your discussions with exhibitors. Don’t forget your camera as there will be plenty of chances for a selfie or two!
A rip-roaring welcome!
You will be welcomed to the show by characters from ‘Faulty Towers the Dining Experience’ and they are going to help you register – so there’s bound to be jokes and laughter! Next, collect your show bags from the unique market stall hosted by the jovial characters from the ‘Only Fools the Cushty Dining Experience’. Throughout the day look out for flash scenes in the main exhibition hall as characters from both shows reprise their roles. If you have a favourite character you’ll be able to take a selfie with them – you’ll find them in our VIP guest room, around the show and on Interactive Theatre International’s dedicated stand, where you‘ll be able to learn how to book the fun ‘Dining Experiences’ for your group.
Meet the Wicked cast
Members of the cast of the award winning West End Musical, Wizard will be mingling with visitors at the show. Chat to the artistes and learn their secrets about how they prepare for each performance!
A magical experience
This year sees the Enchanting World of Wizards and Witches at the show as an exclusive presentation by Black Knight Historical.
The team from the costumed re-enactment specialist will be bringing a taste of their research into the spellbinding world of witches and wizards and introducing Puffball, the fire-breathing dragon, wizards Abramelin and Melchizadek and the Morgana the Sorceress.
Based in a themed marquee dressed with magical paraphernalia, the team will introduce you to the history of these people, who were deemed to be enchanted, and how their quest for knowledge and arcane scientific experiments as they investigated the world earned them the titles of Witch or Wizard. Learn secrets, watch simple experiments and tricks and check out some text from a reproduction of an original arcane book – de Septum Secundeis.
You’ll also be able to find out from the Black Knight Historical Team about how they work with groups and can adapt their appearances and presentations to suit any historical theme and age group to enhance your own events.
All a blooming
The Royal Horticultural Society will be leading our gardens theme at this year’s GO Travel Show with a wonderful floral display at the entrance to the exhibition. This will be sure to inspire you to find out more about what the four RHS Gardens – Rosemoor, Devon; Hyde Hall, Essex; Wisley, Surrey and Harlow Carr, Yorkshire – have to offer groups in 2019 and you will be able to discover the latest details of RHS Garden Bridgewater, which is set to open in Salford, Manchester next year.
RHS Wisley is unveiling a new welcome area this spring and you will be able to find out about this and other innovations there by joining the free fam visit that takes place after the show. Many other garden exhibitors will be on hand too, including the National Gardens Scheme, Sussex Prairie Gardens, The Savill Garden and Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.
Meet Florence and other famous faces
Amongst character re-enactors you might meet at the show, you’ll have the chance to hear stories from a number including Florence Nightingale. The Lady of the Lamp will be visiting the show to tell visitors about celebrations of her 200th anniversary in 2020 based around London’s Florence Nightingale Museum.
In our VIP guest lounge, Florence will join a trio of specialists in conversation about their techniques in bringing the past to life. She will be there with Luciana Haill, an augmented reality expert, who conjures up images of lost buildings and places, and Ian Pycroft who has so many identities in his work for Black Knight Historical that we can’t say here who he might appear as on the day!
GO to tea!
An opportunity to round off the day at 4.00pm with a nice afternoon tea in our VIP lounge is a new addition to the GO Travel Show this year. You’ll be hosted by one of our exhibitor partners and enjoy a scone, cake or pastry and something to take away.
